‘UP Rookie Spotlight’ is a series on the Lady Fighting Maroons’ newest recruits. You’ve seen them on court, now learn more about these iska-atletas off court.
Coming off successful runs in the Philippine Superliga and the Premier Volleyball League, Andreanna Pauleen Lagman is ready to take on the collegiate ranks.
The Middle Blocker-turned-Outside Hitter has been a formidable backup to the UP Lady Fighting Maroons’ veterans. But her volleyball journey is just starting and she is more determined than ever to reach her full potential.
“Joining UP is a dream come true,” the 17-year-old shared.
“I feel more determined to achieve all the other goals I have in my life.”
From a decorated high school career with Colegio San Agustin, Andreanna had a quick taste of high-intensity volleyball when she joined UP. But her teammates have been a great support and served as motivation for her to give her best.
“They’re all such inspirations. Playing with them gave me that push to do better.”
Donning a maroon jersey was also coming full circle.
Andreanna is proud to follow the footsteps of her mom, a former Lady Fighting Maroon, who she also considers her favorite volleyball player.
“My mom is my all time favorite volleyball player,” she quips.
In the team, however, she looks up to Isa Molde most for staying humble and for always working hard.
Taking cues from her mom and Ate Isa, Andreanna hopes to improve on her “timing and service” and to “bring out the fighting spirit” of the team.
On her free time, you can catch this rookie fan-girling over Harry Styles, watching “The Blind Side,” or chowing down on her favorite “lutong bahay na sinigang!”
