The Adamson Lady Falcons inched past the UP Lady Fighting Maroons in today’s tightly contested match at the Premier Volleyball League.
Despite the gloomy weather, both teams came out energetic in their afternoon face-off at the Filoil Flying V Arena which saw both teams exchange leads throughout the match.
UP started slow, being down by 9 points in the first set. But the ladies quickly found their rhythm to close the gap to a solitary point, 21-20.
However, the run wasn’t enough to overhaul the early advantage of Adamson, as they took the first set, 25-22.
The second set was a totally different story for the Lady Maroons as they torched the Falcons with a 9-point lead of their own, 20-11. Marian Buitre and Isa Molde gave the ladies the needed boost to tie the match at one set all.
The third and fourth sets were closely fought as both teams took turns for the lead. But the Lady Falcons had more fuel left to seal the both sets and eventually the game.
Buitre and Molde led UP with 15 points a piece. Aieshalaine Gannaban had 10.
Rookie Lorie Bernardo also had 10 points while Nicole Magsarile had 9.
Lady Falcons’ Eli Soyud rallied with 21 points.
The UPWVT fall to 2-2 in the PVL. They will face the College of St. Benilde next on Wednesday (Aug. 15), 4pm at the Filoil Flying V Arena.
